Rest in Peace, Jack the Bulldog (1998-2011).
After 80 or so dog years, Jack the Bulldog, (Georgetown’s first live mascot after a long hiatus) has died.
Brought to campus by the “Bring Back Jack” movement in 1998, and retiring to Scranton when his caretaker, Rev. Scott Pilarz, S.J. became president of the University of Scranton, Jack passed away today in Voorhees, NJ, at Pilarz’s parents home.
Jack’s successor, also named Jack (or to be precise, John. S. Carroll), is alive and well on the Hilltop, but we’ll miss this Jack, with his loveable slobber and his love of keg beer and ice cubes.
Lie down, forever, lie down.
