Upcoming show: The Startups Band - May 14th, New Haven, CT

We’re playing a show at Stella Blues in New Haven, Connecticut May 14th as a warm up to a few gigs this summer. Alex pulled together an initial set list for a practice session at in the Berklee practice rooms tomorrow. Should be fun to get back into the groove.

I missed the Foo Fighter’s secret show at Stubb’s because we headed to TechKaraoke SXSW 2011. So I had to do what I had to do.

A little Sublime: ‘What I Got.’

Thanks to Omar Divina (Like a Boss!) for finding this clip. Pure Fun.

And the good news is, I’m working on writing some new songs, the old album is up on SoundCloud and my band, ‘The Startups’ are getting back on the road for a summer East Coast tour.

Rock.

  • Emmet Swimming - (cover: Ajit Verghese)'s Fist LIke A Glove
  • Here’s a cover of Fist Like a Glove by Emmet Swimming done by yours truly. I think at Whitlow’s on Wilson in 2005.

Sublime covered by The Startups - a rocking version of the tune ‘Date Rape’.

The Startups cover ‘Smooth’ by Carlos Santana. Rocking it out. ;)

My band - The Startups - cover ‘Stay’ by Dave Matthews Band. Apologies for the poor lighting.

Alex and Ajit perform ‘Smooth’ by Santana and Rob Thomas at Sebastian y Daniela’s wedding in Santiago Chile.

“Let’s Get It On’ performed in Santiago Chile for Sebastian y Daniela’s wedding by Alex Vishno and Ajit Verghese.

  • Courtesy of the Internet Archive, I stumbled upon an old recording of a song I soloed when I sang with my collegiate a capella group - Superfood - at Georgetown.

This song is the first song I ever learned to sing with the group - circa 1996 and was recorded in the Spring of 2000 at the Cherry Tree Massacre in Gaston Hall on Georgetown’s campus. It is version/medley of “Beautiful People’ by Rusted Root and “With or Without You” by U2.

What a wonderful trip back down memory lane. I found  a few more tracks that sound pretty awesome that were sung by other members. I’ll post a  few up later.

  • I found this recording while trying to organize my music this weekend. Its a recording of me playing at Whitlow’s on Wilson from some time back - probably 2005. On it is my cover of the song “Bright Lights” by Matchbox 20. Quality isn’t great - and not my best performance - but definitely fun. Think I have a few more gems stored on C: - I will continue to upload them as the make themselves known.
